Please Be Considerate (A Lesson In Anger)
Winter in southeast Wisconsin is about as predictable as the stock market. Well, there are some factors (both through research and nefarious methods) that make the stock market easier to to predict. Winter in southeast Wisconsin is impossible to predict.
If the meteorologist says “this one’s going to be a whopper! We’re expecting 10 inches of snow!!”, the storm comes and goes with a wheeze. The stoic green grass laugh as the clouds scamper off into the distance.
If the meteorologist says, “we’re just expecting a light dusting, it’ll be no biggie — you should resume your normally scheduled plans”, we end up with snow that doesn’t end for days, and suddenly Lake Michigan’s winds dump another foot on us.
You’d think I’d learn by now.
One sleepy February morning, in which I refused my alarm clock’s reminder of the promise I had made myself to be productive at an early hour, I rushed to my ex’s house to drop off my dog for the day. (We have joint custody of the dog.)
The drive from my place to hers was smooth. There was a pretty significant snowfall overnight, and it continued in the morning, but the roads were already mostly clear.
