I guess it's what you prioritize, just like everything else. I AM fluent in Spanish, and I studied hard for it. I come from a non-Spanish speaking family in a non-Spanish speaking community. I've been told in my profession and travels that I sound like a native speaker, so I'm quite proud of it.
Than again, I did go through a bit of a crisis at the end of my B.A. when I realized I had spent years studying what millions of people around the world already know (flawed logic, I know).
But language is my passion. I'm learning Italian and Russian at the moment, and I've been told I sound like a natural when I speak the little of those languages that I know.
Want me to learn a language? I'll spend hours a day working on it.
Want me to run a business? Yeah, I'll run it...into the ground.
I wish I could do better with business, but it's not something I ever prioritized in my younger years. Wish I did, but it's ok.
Don't fret about not being as fluent as you'd like. Good luck in what you truly want to excel in!
